About ASAD

Arun Sports Association for the Disabled (ASAD) was formed on 17th May 1979 by Mrs. Kate Allen. We are a registered Charity.

Arun District Indoor Bowling Club, Nyewood Lane, Bognor Regis opened for bowling in October 1983 and one of ASAD's founder members became their first Lady Captain. She felt that ASAD should and could get involved.
ASAD were invited to become honorary members and are allocated two greens every Friday evening.

In 1999 The Arena Sports Centre in Bognor Regis was opened and ASAD moved into the Arena the same year.

In 2003 ASAD were invited to Arundel Bowling Club to play Outdoor Bowls during the summer months (weather permitting). This arrangement continues to this day.

In 2009 we celebrated 30 years of service to the community, and our founder and longest serving member Mrs. Kate Allen was awarded an MBE for her services to the community. In the same year our members gained the most medals and received the cup for the best overall performance at the District 1250 Rotary Sports Day at the K2 Centre in Crawley. This achievement has been repeated twice since then.

Our Patron is Mr Nick Gibb the local Member of Parliament.

We would be very pleased to hear from anyone who would like to help us continue to support disabled persons in the area. Please contact us if you are interested in helping in any way.
